canoeing at the Delaware Gap

Every year the youth in our stake go canoeing to kick off the school year. Jarom and I volunteered to go and help out this year, and we were pretty excited about it until we woke up at 5am to get ready and it was cold and rainy outside. We were even less excited when we found out that despite the weather the trip was still on, and even less so when we the buses left almost an hour later than planned. The fact that I'm not a morning person definitely made it all the worse, but luckily the day turned around once we got to the Delaware Gap and got our canoes.

Jarom and I shared a canoe, and our job was to help bring up the rear and assist the youth who were having trouble. Luckily, even thought I'm not naturally athletic, we had gone on canoe trips when I was a youth and I kind of remembered how to do it. And even more luckily, Jarom is naturally athletic and outdoorsy so he knows how to canoe really well. We didn't get rained on and the scenery was beautiful, so all in all it was a great day and a nice break from the city.
